MEMBERSHIP AND SHARED PURPOSE
A cooperative brings members together around a common purpose. The practical benefits and responsibilities of membership depend on the particular Society, its approved rules and the services it provides.
Members should take time to understand those rules instead of assuming that every cooperative operates in exactly the same way.
PARTICIPATION MATTERS
Informed participation includes reading official notices, understanding meeting procedures, asking questions and following the processes established for member engagement.
Members should use verified channels to obtain information and should distinguish formal decisions and approved policies from informal discussion.
RESPONSIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY
Responsible cooperative participation depends on clear information, accountable processes and an understanding of member obligations. Members can support these principles by keeping their records current, meeting their applicable commitments and seeking clarification when information is unclear.
FINANCIAL EDUCATION
Cooperative membership can also provide an opportunity to learn more about saving, budgeting and responsible borrowing. Educational information helps members ask better questions and make decisions with greater awareness of their circumstances.
UNDERSTAND THE GOVERNING DOCUMENTS
The Society’s approved by-laws, policies, official notices and applicable laws determine its formal arrangements. General educational articles should not be treated as a substitute for those documents.
For specific questions about EPZA SACCO governance, membership rights or responsibilities, consult the current official documents or contact the authorized SACCO office.
A well-informed membership helps strengthen communication, participation and a shared understanding of the Society’s objectives.
